Pikes hotel, Ibiza

Ibiza’s rock ’n’ roll hotel Pikes has made contemporary and stylish refurbishments this season, incorporating clever nods to the magical eccentricities of Pikes and its glittering history.

The new Garden Suites concept is Brit-Eccentrics meets timeless rock ’n roll. Eight of the hotel's original bedrooms, bathrooms and external spaces have received makeovers with mid-century modern fittings and furnishings, celebrating emerging and established British designers alongside bespoke Ibizencan makers and craftsmen.

Interior designer Lucinda Swayne: ‘Pikes is a unique place. During the renovation, it was vital to ensure quirky elements of the interiors were retained to preserve the identity of the hotel. Within the redesign, we've created eclectic comfortable rooms with a unique feel and attention to functionality, so that guests will literally never want to leave’.

Bathrooms have been refurbished with gold metallic sinks, brass taps and fittings, and metro wall tiling. Each room boasts a different whimsical playful wallpaper by Divine Savages. Fragrant products from AESOP are found next to sinks and in the showers for indulgent bathing. Silken Flavours has designed bespoke prints for beautiful silk kimonos in all of the rooms - perfect for the morning after!

Comfort is one of the key focuses - each room has a super-king bed with top-quality mattresses, covered with deep toppers and crisp white cotton bedding. Velvet scalloped headboards and black-out curtains on the windows ensure a comfortable night.

In each of the new Garden Suites is a well-equipped mini-bar and mini SMEG fridges with drinks and snacks. Divine Savages has created bespoke fringed lampshades and cushions, that complement the bathroom wallpaper. Scandi-style furniture is made of pale wood and wardrobes are panelled with rattan for texture.

Floors have been kept natural with the use of local stone in a golden earthy tone. To preserve the authenticity of the rooms, the original finca style with Sabina wooden ceiling beams has been retained, with walls painted in neutral shades to ensure maximum light. The exteriors for each room have been redesigned for privacy and floored with Ibizan stone to match the interiors and subtle night-time lighting.
