Client blog: Kos wasn’t cancelled

Like many of our clients, cancellations have been a common occurrence for Debbie and Garry, but after a number of attempts we finally managed to send them away for a week to the beautiful island of Kos. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect...

“Sadly we had five holidays cancelled this year, so I’m very glad we made the decision to go away in October with the current lockdown happening.

We flew from Stansted airport to Kos airport and felt extremely safe. Stansted was very quiet compared to normal but everyone was wearing face masks at all times.

It was the same at Kos airport and we had a private transfer so the driver was waiting for us with a face covering and we had a 12-seater to ourselves. It removed any worries we had about travelling.

We stayed at the five-star Astir Odysseus Kos Resort & Spa, just 5km from the historic centre of Kos town. Despite it being busy we felt safe the entire time.

Masks were required at all times when inside the hotel, unless you were seated at a table in the restaurant. Mask free zones were outside, including the pool and beach area which was really good.

There are three restaurants to choose from: the main restaurant, the waterfront taverna and Ithaka A La Carte. The buffet was fantastic and the a la carte restaurant was great too.

We were also lucky enough to not have to quarantine on return, which was great.

There were forms to be completed before entering Greece and on return to the UK but they were simple to fill out and we had no problems. We just had to show emails on both ends to prove they had been completed.

I would definitely recommend booking another holiday as soon as possible. As always, Abbotts (Julian) were great, arranging all our private transfers and advising us on everything we needed to fill out etc.

We had a wonderful time and are extremely glad we finally got to get away!”
