Cape Fahn

To infinity pools and beyond...

The Cape Fahn Hotel is a boutique hotel belonging to the Cape Hotel Collection, Thailand’s premier group of luxury hotels. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the world and an enchanting development of 24 one- or two-bed luxury pool-villas. Set in a tranquil modern tropical-styled complex on two small private islands off the northeast coast of Koh Samui with spectacular views across the Gulf of Thailand.

'Escape to Cape Fahn Hotel in Koh Samui for a five-star luxurious retreat. A few minutes crossing to island Koh Fahn by boat or truck, depending on the water tide level. We’re delighted by the tractor/boat journey which drives into and across the water where staff with a welcome drink and cold towelette greet us in the lobby.

We immediately relax on striped loungers at the infinity pool in gorgeous, unassuming surroundings: grey sun-bleached wood, cream parasols, storm lanterns and a gorgeous beach view complete with hammock. Attentive staff serve us with a tray of watermelon, pineapple, cookies, spray sun lotion, and an Evian water spray. Drinks are served on gorgeous shell raffia coasters to enjoy poolside with a cute carved coconut monkey.

We grab a golf buggy past bamboo screens up to our independent villa. For once, I’m speechless - it’s one of the most beautiful hotel rooms I’ve ever seen! Bifold doors from the bedroom and lounge area open out to a private infinity pool, indoor and outdoor shower and freestanding bath.

Birds sing, boats sail on the horizon, a gentle breeze, the occasional sound of a jet ski… a truly serene setting. It's the most relaxed I’ve been all holiday. Our very own exclusive island hideaway, where tropical sun caresses skin from sunrise to sunset. It’s hot and I’ve missed a bit! I soothe sun-soaked skin with Rituals After Sun Shower Gel and overnight body mask, and keep hair manageable with Curlsmith Travel Trio for beachy waves.

It’s idyllic here, the water lapping as I look out to sea. Blue sky, aquamarine and cobalt sea with boats and palm trees along the coast. Stepping onto the deserted beach, a hammock swings as the sun sets and we enjoy cocktails - I choose ‘Tipsy Monkey’ (it seems apt) near the lovely bar area with mint green textured tiles.

At Long Dtai an Authentic Southern-Thai restaurant, helmed by Michelin-starred chef David Thompson, a musician plays a Kim instrument. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of crystal-clear blue waters, we savour delectable dishes alfresco on the terrace - Kingfish with lychee followed by a coconut flake tapioca warm pudding.

Wandering across the sandbar at low tide to nearby Choengmon Beach., where we watch the gently lapping waves as the setting sun paints the sky red.

In the morning I fall out of bed (almost literally) into the pool for a swim. I’m whistled at whilst in the secluded outdoor shower… by a bird. Enjoy a drink on your terrace, from the complimentary minibar or coffee maker.

At the breakfast buffet - enjoy a fresh coconut, there’s an amazing array of pastries, in gorgeous surroundings of palm embroidered screens and cushion and natural wood.

For more active guests, activities include paddle board, kayak, yoga, sunset cruise, or there’s moonlight cinema by the pool. For stunning landscapes, temples, rich history and vibrant culture, experience a day trip tour round the island. Visit retired elephants at a sanctuary in a protected forest area.

Take a boat trip, sail around Koh Samui to visit lovely untouched surroundings in lush greenery. Take a dip in the clear blue waters, and snorkel to see shoals of brightly coloured fish. Fishing tours offer a fun adventure with the excitement of the catch and the serenity of the open water. Catch a spectacular sunset on the horizon while sailing on a sunset cruise on a private luxury yacht. Or head to Bophut or Chaweng beach to watch a spectacular fire show!

The hotel’s proximity to Koh Samui airport ensures a convenient journey from this private oasis of luxury, but I don’t want to leave and I can’t wait to come back!'
