“We got in touch with Abbotts Travel to book a short break to Rome, Italy.
We stayed at the Trevi Palace Hotel, which was brilliant. Located only 15 minutes from the city centre, the facilities were basic but the breakfast was lovely. There were two showers, one in the room and one in the bathroom.
We joined a hop-on/off bus tour, which included a skip the line Vatican Museum entry, and a small group walking tour through the city of Rome. Both were fantastic and it is definitely worthwhile avoiding the long queue at the Vatican. The knowledge of the guides was superb.
Food in the city was beautiful and very good value, in the main high street it is a little more expensive but you can find hidden gems in the side roads which offer a much better price.
The most exciting tour was the Rome Food Tour with Pizza-Making, Trattoria Tastings and Gelato as we learnt so much. The Past Cooking Class Experience was also fabulous, as we were taken to food shops, butcherse etc. and tasted a variety of foods.
I would definitely go back to Rome and recommend it to anybody thinking of visiting. It wasn’t cheap but it was amazing.”
