I just wanted to say a big thank you to Carly for organising all the travel and hotels on our holiday. The whole experience was a massive success; the ferry trip was great and we actually saw a whale right next to the ferry in the Bay of Biscay.
For future reference, if anyone asks you what the Spanish railway is like, I can’t fault them at all. Every train left and arrived on time, they were clean and our seat reservations were waiting for us. Oh and the food and drinks were reasonably priced.
All the hotels and cities lived up to expectations (except for Santander which was pretty grim). The hotel in Toledo was our favourite but all of them were very good.
I would recommend this type of holiday to anyone. Of course we came back to reality with the chaos that is air travel, Ryanair is what it is but compared to travelling by rail it was a bit of a pain.
