Client blog: The first but not the last

We really enjoyed our trip to Alicante. It was our first time visiting, but it certainly met our expectations.

It was made much more pleasant flying out of Southend Airport as suggested by Abbotts Travel.

The airport is very quiet and has parking close by. If you’re travelling with hand luggage only, you can check in online and avoid the need to queue.

Both the transfers were excellent and very professional.

We stayed at the Tryp Alicante Gran Sol Hotel, which was very well located on Rambla Mendez Nunez with only a 10 minute walk to the beach. We were on the top floor so had wonderful views.

The breakfast had lots of choices and the hotel staff were incredibly helpful.

We went out on daily sightseeing trips. Highlights included Castle Santa Barbara which has lovely views and can be reached by a lift and the wonderful food market. Also, the large, sandy, uncrowded beach was a hit.

One day we took the tram along the coast to Villa Joyosa, which took an hour each way, where we had a lovely meal and walked around the multi-coloured houses.

We ate at different restaurants every evening as there were many to choose from in the area.

There are excellent tapas bars and restaurants in the old part of town, as well as along the paseo and around the Marina. One good place for a drink in the evening is Ugly Coyote, a great bar overlooking the Marina.

We would love to visit again, perhaps to spend a day in Benidorm, but probably in the early or late summer so we could spend more time on the beach.

We have never travelled with Abbotts Travel before but we wanted an independent travel agent, who could arrange a bespoke holiday and that’s exactly what we got.

Abbotts Travel made the trip very easy and we would certainly recommend them to friends.
