Together for nearly six years, Chloe and Matt have always shared a passion for travel. In 2017, they flew to Sydney to visit family and caught the bug.
Then the travel plans began…
Sabbatical applications approved, they headed in to see Julie last February and provided their bucket list: “We hope to travel in October 2018 and visit South East Asia, Australia (Sydney for Christmas), New Zealand (Auckland for New Year’s Eve) and South America (Rio for Carnival). Easy right?”
After a few setbacks and unforeseen circumstances (saved by the wonderful Julie, of course), they had a round the world route booked, which saw them fly out of Heathrow on 15 November 2018.
Luckily for us, they agreed to report back on every single adventure. Now it is time to pass over to the travel duo to see how the trip began…
“Welcome to a little blog about our trip of a lifetime!
With our flights booked, we remained in contact with Julie almost weekly between February and November. From the word go, she grabbed the bull by the horns and put together a perfectly tailored dream adventure.
Our final route goes a little something like this: Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and The Galapagos, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Vietnam, Cambodia and home. Before we knew it, the time had come to depart!
We landed into Singapore on the 16 November and decided to treat ourselves to a couple of nights in the Marina Bay Sands, mainly for the hotel-guest only pool access.
During our time in Singapore, we were quick to check out the Gardens by the Bay including the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. Our first night was spent tucking into a famous traditional dish - Chilli Crab at Palm Beach Seafood (alongside a Singapore Sling) and walking around the bay past the Merlion.
The next day we took the Singapore MRT to the Botanical Gardens and took a special visit to the National Orchid Garden, before heading to the Singapore Zoo for a river safari.
Destination one may be complete, but we still have the rest of the world to go!”
Stay tuned for the next instalment of Around the World to see how Chloe and Matt survive down under. In the meantime, you can head over to their Instagram profile for some travel inspiration.
