Client blog: Elephantastic

Julie and her husband flew direct with Sri Lankan Airlines for a week on the glorious island of Sri Lanka. Here’s how their trip went:

“Both myself and my husband agree that the highlight for us was the tour before our week spent on the beach.

We decided to book a four night tour, spending one night in Colombo at the Cinnamon Red Hotel. It was a good place to start, and we began exploring the moment we arrived (hectic but fun).

From there we went to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and then on to Kandy. We really enjoyed the elephants and loved staying in Kandy, it was such a lovely hotel to come home to after a day’s travelling. We visited the Sacred Temple of the Tooth and added on an extra excursion to Sigiriya Rock, which we climbed before continuing on to the tea plantations at Nuwara Eliya.

All three hotels were amazing but the last one was quite special. We stayed at the Heritance Tea Factory, which is a converted tea factory with such a different feel. It’s like stepping back in time and was worth a one night stay.

We ended the trip with seven nights at Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa. The spa was lovely and affordable, on the beach in Bentota.

While we were there we went by train to the city of Galle for the day where we took a tuc tuc and explored.

The whole holiday was fantastic but the tour was a highlight and we were so glad we added it.

Of course thanks go to Carly at Abbotts Travel once again for all her help and advice when booking.” Julie
