Royal hunting lodge, lovers' retreat, and country house hotel: from the Romans through to the present day, New Park has been an integral part of the New Forest. Tucked away within the National Park, New Park Manor is a welcome retreat for families.
This place is all about peace and tranquility – yet it is only 90-minutes' drive from London. The natural surroundings are great for family activities – from clay shooting, archery, horse riding and climbing trees in the extensive grounds, to watersports and beach fun a short drive away.
Add to that exquisite fine dining, an award-winning spa and 21 rooms that are the ultimate in relaxed, contemporary luxury – and you get a ‘proper holiday'.
As a Luxury Family Hotel, New Park Manor promises family friendly holidays that tick all the boxes. Get out and explore from a luxurious base, or simply relax and marvel at your surroundings. Take some me-time, sink down in a hot tub, and watch the deer and ponies walk past, or go on adventures as a family; including, of course, your faithful canine companion.
After a busy day, return for a delicious meal cooked with locally sourced ingredients. Choose between family dining and a quiet meal for two while the kids are taken care of.
If you're feeling active, New Park Manor has everything you need to enjoy the New Forest. Pick up a walking guide from our information station, or hire bikes and venture further afield.
Open your window and take in a breath of fresh air – New Park Manor is right in the middle of the spectacular New Forest National Park. As soon as you strike out from the grounds, the huge sky-scapes, wooded glades and sandy heathland stretch out before you – all the way to the coast, a mere seven miles away.
Visit the New Forest if you're a fan of cycling and walking – it's covered in a network of fairly level trails, tracks and footpaths that are ideal for family rambles, or more serious hikes and off-road adventures. Staff will advise the best routes and guide you towards the nearest places to hire bikes.
New Park Manor is a few miles south of Lyndhurst – a perennially popular tourist location with quaint shops, galleries, restaurants and traditional pubs. A few miles in the other direction is the village of Brockenhurst, on the main train line to London. Eleven miles to the East is the bustling port city of Southampton.
Whether your children are budding car enthusiasts, adventurous thrill seekers or into amazing animals, there are plenty of attractions to fascinate the whole family. Visit in July for the New Forest Show and get close to farmyard favourites like pigs, sheep and cows. If you prefer animals of the scaly, cold-blooded variety, the New Forest Reptile Centre is a place to spot rare smooth snakes, sand lizards, frogs and toads.
The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu has something for everyone, from rides on ancient double decker buses to a bangs-and-whistles Top Gear exhibition and an elevated monorail that gives you a bird's eye view of the grounds. Calshott Activity Centre offers indoor climbing, watersports and a dry ski slope, while toddlers will adore Peppa Pig World, just 20 minutes away by car.
So there's no shortage of possibilities at New Park Manor Hotel. But be warned: like royalty before you, you may never want to leave.
