Hôtel Ormelune, Val d’Isère, France

Hôtel Ormelune, Val d’Isère, France

Let the mountains shake up your senses. Explore another dimension, jam-packed with fun and colour. Capture the thrill of the great outdoors and haul it inside to prolong the pleasure: recharge your batteries, discover a better version of the mountain holiday on offer at the Hôtel Ormelune, in Val d’Isère, Savoie.

In the centre of Val d'Isère’s original village, a stone’s throw from the ski slopes, this freshly renovated family hotel has been renamed after the Ormelune mountain.

The new hotel, like its namesake, takes us cheerfully off the beaten track, its imaginative decor and fun-filled comfort a happy alternative to the resort's more standard hotel offerings.

From its central location the Ormelune looks out to the North over the convivial village centre with its cheerful boutiques, bars and restaurants and on the southern side gazes out towards the Face de Bellevarde, Val d’Isère’s impressive Olympic ski run, a feast for the eyes from dawn to dark. The ski lifts are a short walk away and the French Ski School is just across the street.

There's a total lack of pretension, just a warm welcome for lovers of the mountains, here to cultivate a taste for life’s essentials and to enjoy all they have to offer.

That may involve barrelling down snow-clad slopes in the winter, hiking out across the mountains once the snow retreats, enjoying a bird’s eye view from a paraglider or enjoying the rush and tumble of a rafting trip down the Isère.

The nearest airports are Lyon Saint Exupery and Geneva Cointrin, with frequent buses and taxis available.
