School in Corfu

Shelley went back to school for a few days recently with a sole focus on the beautiful island of Corfu, situated off Greece’s northwest coast in the Ionian Sea. With olive trees that carpet the landscape, roads unchanged for centuries and a daily siesta from 3-5pm, there is plenty to immerse yourself in while here. Here’s how Shelley spent her time with the Inspiring Travel Company (ITC):

“Thanks to ITC, I spent a few days exploring Corfu and the luxury resorts the island has to offer. Among a fabulous group of six, we flew with Thomas Cook from Gatwick Airport in approximately three hours to enjoy the Greek sunshine and take a look around three excellent resorts.

Marbella Corfu Perched on a hillside overlooking the blue Ionian sea, Marbella Corfu is located in Agios Ioannis Peristeron, 30 minutes from the bustling Corfu town. The beachfront hotel invites you to relax on the white sands with a cocktail in hand from the bar. A wonderful restaurant, the Dolphin Beach Bar, is a stone’s throw away and if you’re feeling more energetic, the pedalos and canoes are available and included in your stay.

There are four swimming pools, including two for children and a fabulous Melia kids club (aged four months to 12 years). The hotel also provides water sports on the beach, a fitness room, two tennis courts, a mini football court, trekking tours, aerial yoga, sauna, hammam and free WiFi - meaning you will be kept well and truly occupied throughout your stay.

Breakfast is offered to All Inclusive and rooms range from standard to private pool rooms.

There are six restaurants and six bars to choose from, including: La Terraza (buffet), Comodo (Italian), Splash Diner & Bar, Platea (Greek), Dolphin Beach & Bar, La Bussola (Seafood), Cascade Bar,Belvedere Bar, Eleonas Bar and M Bar. Overall, the Marbella Corfu is a fantastic choice for families, groups and couples.

Marbella Nido Suite Hotel & Villas Recently opened in May 2018, Marbella Nido Suite Hotel & Villas is an adults only hotel offering guests an intimate and relaxing experience, perfect for a romantic break.

Situated on a blue flag beach, guests can enjoy the view overlooking the blue Ionian sea, and are provided with complimentary sun loungers and umbrellas. The 70 suites and villas are in a stylish design, with some having a private pool to lounge the day away. There is one main swimming pool and a handful of restaurants and bars - San Giovanni Restaurant, Aquavit pool a la carte, Apaggio Gourmet a la carte, Heritage lobby bar, and The Marbella Nido which offers breakfast and half board.

Guests are also welcome to dine at the adjacent sister property, The Marbella Corfu.

Ikos Dassia  Also just opened in May, Ikos Dassia is an incredible hotel. Located amongst the trees, overlooking the beach and majestic Ionian sea, the luxury resort is on a private beach.

It’s the ideal place to relax and have a refreshing drink (or three), before heading to one of the many swimming pools, paddling pools or splash pool for the kids. A hero kids club (ages 4-11) and a teens club (ages 12-17) are on offer, plus non-motorized water sports on the beach.

For a truly luxurious experience, a visit to the spa with Anne Semonin products is a must. For those seeking more adventure, you can explore the surrounding areas on a mountain bike, or the whole family can enjoy the entertainment including movies, musicals, live music and children’s shows.

Ikos Dassia takes guests on a gastronomic journey from Michelin -  this hotel is on an all inclusive basis with eight restaurants. Flavours range from Mediterranean and French to local Greek cuisine.

Thank you to Neil at ITC , as well as Julian and Sharron for giving me the opportunity to visit Corfu and discover these incredible hotels that I look forward to sharing my knowledge about with our clients. Shelley
